An Overview of OAF

Oracle Application Framework (OA Framework or OAF) is a proprietary framework developed by Oracle Corporation for application development within the Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS). The framework is also available to customers for personalization, customization and custom-application development. The OA Framework is a Model-view-controller (MVC) framework built using Java EE technologies.

This is interesting to know that MVC architecture is a component-based design pattern with the clean crossing point between the Model, View, and Controller.

  • The place where the application implements its business logic is called the MODEL. All the BC4J components in OAF like AM (Application Module), VO (View Object), EO (Entity Object), VL (View Link) & AO (Association Object) comes under Model.
  • The VIEW can be called the place of presentation. View means the UI (User Interface) that is visible to the Users.
  • The CONTROLLER is the way through which the application handles the flow between the pages.
